To understand the effects I will explain the general sound of my snare drum, and what the same tuning does with a regular coated ambassador. I heard the heads crack as is standard on remo heads, but I noticed it didnt crack nearly as much as a regular coated ambassador. I turned the bolts a whole turn in the standard alternating clockwise pattern. I removed my regular ambassador batter and wiped down the bearing edges, fitted the head and proceeded to place the tuning bolts back on the hoop. Pincering my fingers together on either side of the head I found it to be slightly thicker than an normal coated ambassador but still not nearly as thick as an Remo Emporer or Evans G2.Īn initial tap of the head its self gave a low fundamental note similar to a normal ambassador but with less wobble. The simulated calfskin has a lovely vein structure. My initial thoughts of the head was its stunning appearance. Yesterday I bought a 14" Fiberskyn amb batter to put on my 14 x 5.5 Gretsch Hammered Brass Snare. ![]()
